| Item# 3
AGE: Circa 1920-30’s SIZE: 83” x 61” LOCATION FOUND: Ca. DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful and rare pattern which is not assembled in the typical block formation. Instead, the pattern consists of large soft yellow cotton diamond pieces 10” long, which magically and precisely join with 4” squares of the same color and creamy white cotton triangles. The back is the same off white cotton. The softness of the colors was difficult to capture with the camera but is a very pleasing yellow. This is a stunning vintage quilt which obviously was done by a skilled quilter as this is a challenging quilt to assemble. The choice and placement of colors creates an optical illusionary effect. The corners are perfectly rounded. The binding is separately and evenly hand applied. There is no batting; this is a coverlet. CONDITION: The quilt is pieced by both hand and machine. This coverlet is beautifully quilted using a calm shell pattern throughout. The quilting is done in amazingly tiny, even, and precise stitches, at 10-11 STI, both sides. All the seams are intact and the fabric is soft however sturdy. There are absolutely no stains, tears, repairs, or wear. The previous owner indicates it was never used, however washed one time.
