| Item# 67
AGE: c. 1850’s SIZE: 79” X 86” LOCATION FOUND: Upstate NY DESCRIPTION: This is an amazing collection of very early fabrics including ombre prints, Prussian blues, double pink and chrome yellow. This quilt has a stunning intensity in color. There are 45 8” squares assembled on point separated by 3" sashing of a stunning yellow-gold color fabric. Be sure to view the pictures so you can view some of this fabric. The quilt edge is done with a half design of the squares, giving the quilt a sense of a border. The back is muslin. CONDITION: The fabric in this quilt is stunning, incredibly vibrant and crisp. It appears to never have been washed or used. It is all hand pieced and quilted at an even 8 stitches per inch in outline quilting with cable stitching in the sashing. The binding is hand done. Six of the squares show fabric deterioration, which are pictured. The quilt is well worth the restoration or can certainly be used as is, as it displays beautifully.
